Lean into Change #7: broaden the change involvement

Once a particular change or suite of changes (they rarely are singular) is identified, go back to your analysis of who is affected. That whole community needs to be invited to participate and contribute to the change process. Transformation is everybody's job. Each affected person will have something to contribute toward the improvement or innovation: ideas, energy, perspectives that will be different that yours. All these inputs are valuable to the process and will improve the quality of the ideas. Be sure to include the clients, customers, patients, students. They will help you keep a focus on improving outcomes.

Keep track of who is involved in what aspects of the change process; those who successfully bring in others; those who are really there and those with paper participation only. Celebrate the real involvement and find out what is preventing commitment.
